Advanced Course: Night Photography in the Mountains

Capturing the stars and the Milky Way in extreme low-light conditions.

The Challenge

Our students wanted to learn how to photograph mountain nightscapes but faced major difficulties: correct exposure for the starry sky, avoiding digital noise at high ISO, and composition in near-total darkness. Initial results were underexposed, with details lost in shadows or the sky full of noise.

The Solution and Process

We developed a specialized module that combines theory with field practice. The process included:

  • Planning with apps: Using tools to anticipate the position of stars and the Moon.
  • "Exposure Stacking" Technique: Shooting dozens of frames with precise settings to be combined in post-processing, reducing noise.
  • Dedicated editing workshop: Workflow in Lightroom and Photoshop to extract maximum detail from night RAW files.

Results and Images

After completing the course, the students produced stunning galleries. Below is a selection of final works that illustrate mastery of the taught techniques.
